Angela managed to raise between £1200 and £1300. Her time was a very creditable 3 hours 43 minutes and 28 seconds. Abney Garsden McDonald sponsored her. She says "The atmosphere around the course was electric, there were brass, Reggie and drum bands playing, children holding out their hands so you could tap them as you passed, there was even a barbecue in the rain, now that was dedication. There was not a bit of pavement without someone to encourage you along, and indeed, you did need that sometimes. My only hope was not to let the Rhino pass me, which I'm glad to say he didn't." 26th April 2006 Grandma abseils for Charity Pauline McDonald, the mother of one our founding partners, has several grandchildren as well as 4 sons. Whilst she does not look her age, which cannot be disclosed for obvious reasons, it seemed odd that she should want to abseil 60 feet from the St. Cuthbert's Church roof in Cheadle for charity. So sure were we that she wouldn't do it that Abney Garsden McDonald agreed to sponsor her. Well she did it. If you want to see the video go to the St. Cuthbert's website |
