Environmentally friendly solicitors cycle to Blackpool for Christies

On Sunday 8th of July staff from Cheadle Hulme- based Abney Garsden McDonald Solicitors cycled 60 miles from Manchester to Blackpool. The intrepid 5-man team rode cross-country from the Manchester Outdoor Events Arena to Stanley Park in Blackpool and raised in the region of £600 for Manchester’s Christies Hospital through sponsors from family and friends.

The charity bike ride ties in with the firm's recently introduced scheme to encourage people to leave their cars at home and cycle to work. The scheme involves the firm purchasing a bike on their staff’s behalf and then hiring it back tax-free.

Commenting on the ride, solicitor and team member Paul Durkin said, “ I’m extremely proud of the team and the effort they made. Most of the team were fairly inexperienced riders and crossing the finish line was a great achievement for them. Christies is a charity close to many peoples heart and it’s great that we can do our bit.”
