Leading child abuse solicitors launch website for victims of abuse

Greater Manchester- based Abney Garsden McDonald, one of the UK's leading law firms specialising in child abuse, are launching a new website www.abuselaw.co.uk. which aims to provide easy access to information for child and adult survivors of physical, sexual and psychological abuse. The site goes live on Wednesday 27th June.

Managing Partner Peter Garsden said: "We are launching www.abuselaw in order to give some background on how the law works, and what survivors may expect when they go to see a solicitor, which can be a daunting task for someone who may be reliving their trauma. We feel that it will answer many of the questions that survivors may have about abuse cases, and the legal jargon the law uses. It also aims to give the survivor, who may have never used a solicitor before, more confidence that they will be treated empathetically by us."

Before implementing the site the firm asked for feedback from a number of significant organisations working for survivors of abuse - organisations such as NAPAC (National Association for People Abused in Childhood), MENCAP (The UK's leading learning disability charity and HAVOCA (Help for Adult Victims of Child Abuse).

Founder and Trustee of HAVOCA, Jamie Harms said, "It is a real pleasure to see victims of abuse being put first by a professional organisation, a long overdue resource that has been expertly put together."

To coincide with the launch on the 27th of June, Peter Garsden will be meeting with Mandy Sanghera, a Trustee of Voice UK in order to make a donation to their organisation. Voice UK is a national charity supporting people with learning disabilities and other vulnerable people who have experienced crime or abuse.
