Jeans for Genes day - 7th October 2005

Jeans for Genes’ 10th birthday was celebrated at AGM on Friday 7th October 2005. Members of staff supported the event by wearing jeans to work and donating £2 to the appeal. The collection box was guarded by Suzanne on reception who hounded everyone as they arrived for work and gave out stickers to all those that really wanted them.
AGM raised a grand total of £70 for the appeal and a great big thank you goes to all those that supported the event.

Jeans for Genes raises funds for research into genetic disorders affecting children and to provide advice and support services for families.
Research, carried out with Jeans for Genes proceeds, is helping to understand and develop new treatments and therapies for a wide range of genetic disorders affecting children. This includes improving the effectiveness of existing conventional treatments, as well as developing potential new cures, such as gene therapy.
The research is taking place at hospitals and research centres around the UK. However, there are many more worthy research projects that can be funded, so the need for funds continues.

The appeal benefits nine national charities, including Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity and the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign and in 2005, five guest charities will also benefit from the campaign.
