Manchester to Blackpool Bikeride 2005 |

| On the 17th
July 2005 at 07.45hrs a team from AGM solicitors set out on a mission
to complete the Manchester to Blackpool cycle race in aid of Christies
hospital , Manchester. The team consisted of 4 very keen cyclists who
are often seen cycling into work, and four not so keen cyclists who had
not sat on a bike for over 10 years but did not need too much to persuade
them to take part!
Everyone made a huge effort before the day, with frequent trips to a local bike shop for all the necessary accessories and the occasional team practice ride after work, with a stop at the pub for a quick drink. All in aid of team building of course! All 8 completed the 64 miles in very hot, exhausting but very scenic conditions [winding country roads, dual carriage ways and lots of big hills]. The first ones arrived back at Stanley park, Blackpool, just before 1.30pm and the last four arrived back several hours later! But they did stop for lunch, a bit of sun bathing and lots of water. Luckily there were no injuries or bike troubles apart from the very sun burnt arms supported by all. The final four explained that the last 12 miles were the hardest but the sight of Blackpool Tower gave them that extra leg power to keep going, although at times the peddles were going full speed but the bikes were not! Lots of songs, kind gestures and cross words were exchanged throughout the day along with a large supply of lucozade sweets, energy bars and sun tan lotion and a few trips behind the bushes! It was tough day but a great personal achievement which will be remembered by all that took part. The total raised for Christies was £1700. Special thanks to our major fundraiser Ami Shah who raised more that £1000.00 on her own and Emma Johnston who with her partner Lee raised more than £400.00. The team members would like to thank all those that supported their fundraising efforts.
