On 15th of November 2002 members of staff at Abney Garsden McDonald took part in a number of fund raising events. These events included taking part in an ‘own - clothes’ day for which everyone paid a fee for taking part. Two members of staff were so dedicated to the cause that they went so far as to come in fancy dress. One of these outfits was a police constable’s uniform including authentic looking equipment whilst the other was a Middle Eastern Turkish delight. Another fund raising idea was to wax a male member of staff’s leg which although seemed quite painful which was also at the same time very funny. However, the main event took place in the afternoon when some members of staff cooked authentic Indian food. The food was prepared the night before and was served in the boardroom. Everyone was invited to share the food and for this forfeited their lunch money which went into the ‘Children in Need’ fund. The food made included chicken curry, pilau rice, aloo gobi, popadums, dips, raita, onion bhagi’s, samosas and an Indian dessert (rasmali). Late
afternoon there was a prize draw raffle which consisted of donated prizes from
staff.
The star prize which was kindly donated by the partners of the firm was
won by Chantal Richard.
The
day was enjoyed by all members of staff at the firm who all took part in this
worthwhile cause.
The total sum raised was £160.
