Greater Manchester solicitors to work on UK’s biggest legal cases Greater Manchester solicitors who represent over 700 people who were abused at children’s homes, have won the right to tender for some of the biggest legal cases available in the country. Abney Garsden McDonald solicitors in Cheadle Hulme have been awarded membership of the prestigious Law societies’ Multi-Party Action Panel. This means they are one of just a handful of solicitors in the country who can apply to work on group actions – where there may be dozens, or even hundreds of claimants. Past examples of these cases include the Hillsborough disaster, the Piper Alpha oil rig disaster and the London Underground fire. Abney Garsden McDonald solicitors was formed in 1985 by Paul McDonald and Peter Garsden. Since then the firm has grown considerably - to over 40 staff - including 10 solicitors in the child abuse compensation department. “Membership of the panel is a big compliment for the firm and in particular our group action team, who have worked so hard over the last 8 years on several high profile child abuse cases where the sensitivities and needs of the survivors are so important” ; says Peter Garsden of Abney Garsden McDonald solicitors.
