Membership of Multi-Party Action Panel (See Press Release & Manchester Metro Article)
Abney Garsden McDonald have been admitted to the prestigious Multi-Party Action Panel, which comprises a handful of specialised solicitors throughout the country, who are deemed experienced in Group Actions. Thus they are authorised and qualified to lead group action claims and advise other solicitors. 
A Group Action is an action based upon common issues of fact or law where a group of individuals have broadly similar claims which are pursued together. Over the years there have been many examples deriving from disasters such as the Hillsborough Disaster in Sheffield football stadium, the Manchester Air Crash etc.
Abney Garsden McDonald have built up a speciality and reputation for its child abuse work, and now lead about 20 Children's Home Group Actions. That speciality and quality of service has been recognised now by appointing them to the panel of solicitors authorised to conduct Multi-Party Litigation.

Child Abuse Lawyer takes fight to Commons
A Cheadle Hulme solicitor has slammed a House of Commons inquiry into cases of abuse at children's homes.

Solicitor Rebuts "trawling" allegations (The Guardian)
Claims that many care home workers have been wrongfully convicted of child sex abuse are "a complete distortion of the truth", an influential committee of MPs has heard.
As part of its inquiry into the conduct of investigations into past cases of child abuse in children's homes, the home affairs select committee yesterday heard from solicitor Peter Garsden, a founder member of the Association of Child Abuse Lawyers (ACAL).

Home Affairs Select Committee Evidence
"A solicitor who specialises in child abuse cases has claimed "there are no people in prison for child abuse who are blameless."
Giving evidence last week to the third meeting of the Home Affairs Select Committee into child abuse in children's homes, Peter Garsden said he had not come across any cases of false allegations.
Garsden, founder of the Association of Child Abuse Lawyers, said only a tiny proportion of people made false claims. 
He also dismissed suggestions that claimants were encouraged by compensation payouts. "  Community Care Magazine
The day following the evidence Peter Garsden received a letter from the Chairman Chris Mullins M.P. thanking him for his contribution, which had served to broaden the minds of the committee, and congratulating him for withstanding the vigorous cross examination he received so well
