We
looked for new premises for about 4 years. We were delighted
when the opportunity arose to move out of our old cramped
accommodation in Cheadle to bigger brighter premises
in Cheadle Hulme only 1 mile away. We had rented 82,
Stockport Road since we opened for business on 5th December
1985. We therefore celebrated our 15th anniversary by
moving on in November 2000.
The new building used to belong to Barclays bank in Cheadle Hulme. Their closure program of branch offices operated to our advantage. We were operating within 1500 square feet at Cheadle. Our 24 staff desperately needed more space, which we found at the new premises by converting the basement into a large office and boardroom area. The total square footage has doubled to nearly 3000 square feet.
Our thanks go out to all the contractors who worked
on the refurbishment program guided expertly by Tony
Mancini of Stevens
Scanlan in Manchester. Martin Shenton and his team worked
tirelessly over a 10 week period to get the premises
ready for habitation. We have facilities for the disabled
including a ground floor meeting room adjacent to reception,
a disabled toilet, and a street level entrance.
Our official opening on 7th December 2000 welcomed the
visit of Alan Beswick of Greater Manchester Radio. Peter
& Paul have both been interviewed by him in the
past. It is not commonly known that Alan studied law
but then decided not to pursue law as a career (who
can blame him?).
We are very excited to move into the vibrant commercial and domestic area of Cheadle Hulme where the facilities are much more extensive. Peter used to work two doors away at our nearest competitors who were then J.F.Fielding & Co., but are now Minehan Hurst & Co.
Feel free to browse through some pictures which were kindly taken by the Stockport Times newspaper.
