Welcome to the Irish Survivors Site, dedicated to helping the adult survivors of child abuse & deprivation in certain institutions situated in the Irish Republic several years ago, who wish to make claims for compensation. The Redress Board was set up under the Residential Institutions Redress Act, 2002 to make fair and reasonable awards to persons who, as children, were abused while resident in industrial schools, reformatories and other institutions subject to state regulation or inspection. The Board closed on 15th December 2005. In a statement issued by the Minister for Education and Skills in Ireland, the Minister outlined that the Board will not conisder late applications received on or after 17th September 2011. Although you are too late you may be able to pursue a claim through the courts. We may be able to help. We can only bring claims in the Courts of England and Wales NOT Ireland ie most cases should be handled by Irish solicitors. If you think you can bring a claim in England and Wales (ie the assets of the proposed Defendant are in England and Wales) please Contact us This site is aimed at those who emigrated from Ireland and presently reside in Britain and other parts of the English speaking world. If you wish to make an enquiry or join the group email us or fill in our form. |
