Here we will attempt to compile a number of pieces of advice to help
you. You can follow one of the links on our links
page. Or you can ring one of the outreach workers (UK), whom
you will find on our contact page.
The Redress Board,
enables survivors of abuse in certain Irish institutions which
are included in the Schedule to the
Act to claim compensation without going through the Courts
and without having to prove fault. The compensation is assessed using
a point scoring system which explained in detail elsewhere
on this site. It opened for business on 16th December 2002. The headquarters
are in Dublin, Ireland. Hearings may be held in this country.
The Steering Committee have had a meeting with the board, and as a result
we have published useful points of guidance
for lawyers, or indeed applicants in person to follow.

The Irish
Commission is a forum for survivors to explain what happened
to them by submitting their statement and giving evidence. It is an
independent Tribunal with its own rules. The deadline for submitting requests
to give statements has passed. It continues to hear evidence from survivors
who have already registered their interest. A report on the findings of
the Commission will be published in several years time when it has heard
all its evidence. It is based in Dublin Ireland. The Commission will
not accept any new evidence.
