Tip - it is not a bad idea to find out the name of the managing director and address the letter to him personally, or if not to the "Managing Director">

Dear Sir,

Re: Holiday to
[insert destination] From [insert] To [insert] Your Invoice Reference: [insert or delete if you do not have this information]

We/I booked a holiday to [insert] for [insert] people (insert number of adults and children) on the above dates at a cost of £[insert] through your company.

We were influenced to book the holiday, because the brochure and accompanying information  we read in different sources before we traveled,  made the statements listed below. Unfortunately the holiday did not live up to any of the comments that were made. We have put our remarks beside the statements in  bold type.

Additionally the holiday was not up to the standard holiday makers can reasonably expect from a tour operator in the holiday market, having regard particularly to the general comments you make in your brochure about your standards of care, and as such the things we have complained about below can be regarded as breaches of  terms in the contract in either an implied or direct sense. Our comments are listed below.

1.    [eg. The brochure said that the resort was quiet and secluded] [eg When we got there we were opposite a disco which played loud music until 4am}
2.
3.

As a result of the spoilt holiday we incurred expenses and want to make the following claims.

1.    Return of the full cost of the holiday in the sum of £[insert] [amend as appropriate]. We enclose with this letter a copy of the invoice.[send a copy]
2.    [eg. Taxi fares of £10.00].
3.    Compensation for the inconvenience I/we suffered.

We expect a reply within 7 days. If we do not hear from you within the required period, we will place the matter in the hands of our solicitors, which we trust will not be necessary. We also notify you that if we do not receive satisfaction we will consider issuing court proceedings. Our claim will be without prejudice to  this letter.

Yours faithfully,

 [SIGNATURE]
