What is elder abuse?

Elder abuse is a single or repeated act or lack of appropriate action, occurring within any relationship where there is an expectation of trust, which causes harm or distress to an older person.

It is generally divided into the following categories:

Abuse can occur anywhere:

  • Someone’s own home
  • Residential care
  • A carer’s home
  • Day care
  • A nursing home
  • Hospital

If a member of your family has been the victim of neglect or abuse at the hands of those in whom you entrusted their care we can help.
