Abney Garsden McDonald opened for business in 1985. To read more about

The firm opened its Abuse department in 1995 when Peter Garsden was instructed
by one of the first victims in the huge police investigation into abuse
in the North West of England. This case quickly developed into a large
Group Action centred around Greystone Heath in Warrington, which in turn
became 5 large Group Actions concerning widespread abuse in children's

The firm has the largest specialist abuse department in the country,
which is based at the Cheadle Hulme office and is headed by Peter Garsden.
He is one of the founder members of a nationwide group called A.C.A.L.
( Association of Child Abuse Lawyers). Their Web Site has been designed

The firm has attracted much media coverage as well as press articles on
the subject. This in turn has raised the profile of the firm amongst the
legal profession.

500 - in September 2001 Abney Garsden McDonald were invited onto
the very prestigious membership of the
Legal 500 which is a directory of the best 500 Law Firms in the Country.
We are listed under Claimant Personal Injury for the North West and are
one of a handful of firms recommended in the field. In December 2001 the
firm entered for "Most Enterprising Firm" and "Litigation
