Care court fees

The case of Baby P awakens feelings in most of the nation. The government increased the fee for Care Proceedings from £150 to £4000 in May 2008. We believe that this will deter Councils from bringing care proceedings on the grounds of finance.

Our petition, which is urged upon government is in partnership with ACAL (The Association of Child Abuse Lawyers). It demands that the government lower the fee to prevent decisions being taken on the grounds of cost rather than need.

The Government has announced that a review is to be carried out which could lead to the ending of these fees for public childcare applications. The Ministry Of Justice said it would act on the recommendations due this Autumn. See the full story by clicking here

Our petition will be sent at the end of June 09 to the relevant government office carrying out the review.
